Tips for getting free online exposure!
This is an ever growing list. These are all things that I've picked up along the journey... BTW--these are NOT listen in order of importance--just in the order that I thought of them :- )

IF YOU HAVE A PROMOTIONAL IDEA THAT YOU DON'T SEE HERE---SHARE IT DUDE! Email ME @ pastorbrad@aol.com and I'll post it --and YES I will include YOUR NAME and LINK (If you want me to).

TIP 1 (Promotion / Marketing / Distribution). Um... create a website?
Maybe this is TOO obvious, but I don't want to assume anyting. You've GOT to have some kind of presence on the web. K? Now---If you have the energy and motivation for it--create your own website! You can get really great and SIMPLE-to-use software at www.coolpage.com! BUT AT THE VERY LEAST--get on myspace and/or join some FREE communities like SoundClick.com or PureVolume.com, etc., that will allow you to build a page and upload some music!

*** If you build your own website--with your own unique domain name, etc--DEFINATELY become a student of SEO (Search Engine Optimization) -- And the VERY BEST place to get a really affordable (five bucks) crash course is right here! HOW TO OPTIMIZE YOUR WEBSITE... In this ebooklet I will share with you exactly how I got my site, www.guitarjams.net to #1 on google, Yahoo, and other major Search Engings -- FOR FREE!

Tip 2. (Promotion / Marketing) Do a Newsletter and Build that list forever!
You've GOT to find some way to connect--regularly-- with the people who enjoy your music. If you have your own site, or are on myspace you can easily create an html sign up/opt in form where people can join the list. Then become a student of NEWSLETTERS--sign up and start readying newsletters from bands you like--what do they do that you like... or don't like and begin to shape yours...

Tip 3. (Promotion / Distribuion) Write Testimonials!
When you purchase a CD, book, or any product or service and it exceeds your expectations e-mail the band/business a testimonial. Tell them in the testimonial the benefits you got from the product or service. Give them permission to publish the testimonial on the web site if they include your contact info at the end.

Tip 4. (Promotion) Never JUST VISIT a site... leave a message!
When you visit a web site make the most of the visit--sign the guest book, request a link exchange, contact the band or webmaster and always inclue your link info with an invite to come by the site!

Tip 5. (Promotion) Give your music away VIRALLY
If you have a NEWSLETTER mailing list (You do have one right?) Share your music VIRALLY--In other words--give everyone on your mailing list a FREE mp3 along with an insetive to FWD it on to everyone they know with a link to your site. The insetive could be free admission to gig, a free cd, a free bundle file of 5 of your mp3s... or some other cool thing you think of. TRUST ME ON THIS!!!!! Those cds or whatever you give away will pay off BIG-TIME--i mean think about this--you send your mp3 to the 64 people you have on your list--and say only 10 of them FWD it on... they send it out to 5 people each--who send it out to just 3 people... Dude... do that math... you just introduced your music to 150 new people for the price of a couple cds---or maybe even just a couple mp3s in a bundle file!

Tip6. (Promotion / Marketing) Share the spotlight!.
In your newsletter CROSSPROMOTE. Here's what I mean. As you surf around and check out other bands. See if they have a mailing list--if they're smart they will have... contact them and say, "Hey I'm Joe Rocker from www.awesomemusic.com. I absolutely love your music (listen to samples FIRST!). I send out a newsletter to all my friends/fans and I got and idea that I beleive would be a real win/win for both of us if you're up for it. I would be happy to tell my fans about your site/music if you'd be willing to do the same for me in your newsletter... that way both of us will gain exposure to some new people." If you get ahold of a band that cares about new fans--you'll get a positive reply.

Tip 7. (Promotion) Advertise in EVERY email you send out!
Create a signature. Every email program is different, but every program allows you to create a custume "signature" that will automatically be insterted at the end of every email you send. SO--create one something like this...
