How to create KILLER iMixes @ iTunes

Lots of my stuff is on iTunes... just search for "Pastor Brad"! This is an awesome thing... I got this idea from a promo site--check this out---if you're up for doing this--it could really help promote my music! And gain you a FREE CD! READ ON...

iTunes allows you to publish playlists that you create (on the left side of iTunes) as something called iMixes. The iMixes can be rated from 1-5 stars by other customers, and top rated iMixes appear on the page for every album that has a song in the iMix.

To make your first iMix, create a new playlist by hitting the + sign on the bottom left corner of iTunes. Go to a PASTOR BRAD album in the iTunes store and choose one or two of your favorite songs and drag them into your playlist (this will NOT make you purchase the song, it just creates a link to the store). Then go through the store and drag songs by other artists, ideally similar to PASTOR BRAD's music, into your playlist. Once you're happy with your choices, view your playlist, then click the little arrow to the right of the title to publish your iMix. iTunes will tell you how to do the rest.

Here are some tips, from experience:

1) Only choose songs that can be downloaded as a single. This allows the entire iMix to be purchased at once.

2) Choose between 10-30 songs. You want enough to get your iMix to be seen, but not so many songs that people won't buy the whole thing, or worse yet, not listen to it.

3) Don't overload it with PASTOR BRAD songs. You want a variety of artists so it gets noticed. If they like the PB tunes, it's easy enough to go buy the album.

4) Don't choose super popular songs. Those albums will have so many iMixes, especially a lot demanding Beatles or Radiohead or something along those lines, that your iMix will never get listed. Instead, choose slightly less popular or more niche oriented artists and albums.

5) Make a lot of iMixes. Not all will get enough votes to get noticed, but that's not a big deal. Try different themes, ideas, and genres.

A KILLER idea for Selling downloads on iTunes...

Ideas for success:

1) I run a constant promotion online, offering people

2) I love to help my friends with this, and we can all help each other by giving iMixes 5 stars. You can only vote once per account, so we rely on each other to get things off the ground. If you are interested, you can contact me through my website or post here, I'll try to check back often. I'll scratch your back if you'll scratch mine.

3) If anyone overseas has an iTunes account for a country other than the US, we can create iMixes for each other. Since you can only access iTunes through one country (wherever you signed up) your iMixes will only be seen by users in that country. We ought to take this idea international.

Final thoughts:

This is a really simple way to sell more music. In the time it took me to write this, I could have published two or three more iMixes. Once people start buying your music and the music on the iMixes, your song and album will appear in their "Listeners also bought" section. THAT is the place to be.

I am a jazz musician, I have one jazz CD on iTunes. But I've still made hundreds of dollars by doing this. Before I created my first iMix, I hardly sold anything on iTunes, now I sell at least 20 singles a week, and way more on a good week. My album sales have also increased.

I've made about half of them, the rest were done by friends or people that discovered and bought my music, probably through another iMix. If you're so inclined, vote 5 stars on a few of them and let me know when your first iMix is available!
